MSU Texas partners with ViTel Net for portable, nurse training cases
Local news covered yesterday’s one-day conference hosted by Midwestern State University (MSU Texas) … and ViTel Net was there!
The goals of the conference were to:
- Educate staff and students
- Showcase new products purchased
A highlight was the portable nursing kit designed by ViTel Net for MSU Texas nursing students.
Last year, Midwestern State University’s Wilson School of Nursing received $1.5 million grant from through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), distributed over two years, to support the education of family nurse practitioner (FNP) students who will train and work in rural or under-served areas. The Medically Underserved Specialization for Advanced Nursing Graduate Students (MUSTANGS) project will increase access to health care through technology and community partnerships, while creating a pipeline of nursing students, who will gain clinical experience
ViTel Net Expertise
The Mustang grant offered MSU Texas to expand its program and provide field equipment to train future nurses. The ViTel Net team configured a Pelican case with devices to specifications set by MSU Texas. The students easily wheel the case to the patient’s home and use the devices to capture and transmit patient data. One of the unique elements is the use of a tablet for the student to interact with the teacher directly.
We are thrilled to partner with this institution – they are using technology to better educate their students AND provide care in underserved areas … awesome!
